About Max
Thanks for visiting my website today and Welcome!
I wanted to share a little about Max and how this business got started.
This type of work for me started as a young teenager. At the time, my family owned many acres of farm land and operated equipment to cultivate the fields and to also maintain the roads into these areas. It took a lot of work to keep the water drainage in these areas maintained and also working the farm areas. During that time, we also had chickens and other livestock, including the vegetables we grew. So, it was a lot of work to keep everything going.
The tractor equipment really got my attention. Learning how to operate the equipment and then using it to work many areas of the farm was something I enjoyed doing. When I first started running this equipment, I was about 14 years old. I loved the sound and power of the diesel engines and all the work that could be done with these machines.
Neighbors, Family, Friends needing work.
Pretty soon, a few years later, I begin to have neighbors, friends and other family that would have me over to rework their driveways or roads and ditches that needed work. Then at the age of 20, I decided to see the world and travel some and choose a different path in my life.
I joined the US Navy at the age of 20 for a 4 years of Active Duty. During this time I spent over 2 years sea duty traveling to many different countries overseas. It was a really great experience and something that has left me with a lot of good memories.
During my time in the Navy, I realized that owning my own business was the path I wanted to take with my life. After getting out of the Navy, I had a few different jobs and in 1995 started a full line Vending Business in the Durham area, Best Choice Vending, inc. I serviced many larger accounts like Nursing Homes and more throughout the Durham and also Orange County areas. I operated this business for about 19 years and really enjoyed it and the great relationships I developed with my customers during these years.
Still doing this work part time.
While running the Vending Business during this time, the equipment work kept coming back to me. I got into doing this work again as a side business for many people I knew, including some of the businesses I had Vending Accounts with. At the time, I started out with a tractor that I purchased with doing this work. I bought the attachments needed, box blade for driveway, brush cutter, hole digging attachment and a few other blades.
My side line business got really busy and I made the decision to sell my Vending Business and go full time into the Grading Business in 2014. I named my company Max Tractor Service, inc., since I started out with a tractor.
Over the years, the demand for the driveway, roads and other services continued to grow. So, I kept upgrading equipment. I now operate track Skid Steer Machines and Mini Excavator equipment. I now have many different types of attachments to handle several different types of jobs.
